Privacy Policy

Short version: your wallet data stays on your device (and your iCloud account if you enable sync). We do not sell it or send it to our analytics service. Optional product analytics are off by default, limited to the fields below, and can be turned off in Settings.

Credit Buddy ("we," "our," or "the app") helps you track credit card benefits and rewards. This policy explains what information the app stores, how it is handled, and your choices.

What data the app stores

Credit Buddy stores the information you enter, including credit card names, benefit details, reward account balances, and calculator history.

This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your app data is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit so it can sync across your own devices.

We do not have access to your iCloud data.

What we collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store your card and rewards data on our servers. Credit Buddy does not require an account and does not include advertising trackers.

Optional product analytics

Credit Buddy may ask if you want to share limited product analytics to help improve the app. This is optional, off by default, and can be changed at any time in Settings.

If enabled, the app sends a random identifier created for that app installation; app version, build, and platform; limited product interactions such as tabs or feature areas opened; release-announcement views; paywall placement; Household Mirror share, join, or revoke actions; and whether a new Credit Buddy+ purchase completed after StoreKit verification. The purchase event does not include a price, product identifier, payment method, or transaction identifier.

Analytics never include card names, issuers, wallet contents, balances, credit or benefit amounts, reward balances, redemption details, photos, statement contents, Mirror links, or Mirror contents. The random installation identifier is pseudonymous: it lets us understand a sequence of app events, but we do not link it to an account, contact information, or a real-world identity.

Analytics are used only to understand and improve Credit Buddy. They are not used for advertising, combined with data from other companies for tracking, sold, or shared with data brokers. Events instruct PostHog not to create a person profile and not to perform GeoIP enrichment.

We retain these events only as long as reasonably necessary to understand and improve Credit Buddy. Turning analytics off removes the random identifier stored by the app and stops future events. Delete All Data does the same. Events already transmitted remain pseudonymous in PostHog until they are removed under our retention controls.

Third-party services

Credit Buddy communicates with these services:

  • Apple iCloud (CloudKit): Only when you enable sync. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple StoreKit: Used for optional Credit Buddy+ purchases and managed by Apple.
  • PostHog: Used only for opt-in pseudonymous product analytics. Data is hosted in PostHog's US Cloud. Credit Buddy marks every event to disable person profiles and GeoIP enrichment.
  • Formspree: Used when you choose to submit your email address on this website for newsletter or app update emails.

Website email updates

If you submit your email address on this website, we use it only to send Credit Buddy updates or newsletter-style notes. You can ask to be removed at any time by contacting us.

Permissions

Credit Buddy may request access to notifications (for reminders) and calendar (for benefit deadline events). These permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS settings at any time.

Data deletion

You can delete your data in the app settings at any time. Deleting the app removes local data. If iCloud sync is enabled, synced data can also be removed from iCloud account settings.

Turning optional analytics off, using Delete All Data, or deleting the app removes the random analytics identifier stored locally and stops future analytics from that installation. Previously transmitted pseudonymous events remain subject to our PostHog retention controls.

Children's privacy

Credit Buddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, the "last updated" date above will change.
